Graduation FAQs
- Awards must be evaluated before being posted on yourtranscripts
- Graduation petitions are reviewed one by one
- If there are missing requirements, an email will be sent
- There is no way to put a rush on your petition
- Most of the students who petition to graduate from SCC are planning to transfer, and everyone is a priority
- You may need to submit an official transcript now and another after your general education certification is awarded
- Check with your transfer institution if official transcripts with GE certifications posted are sufficient
- If your CSU or UC is requesting a GE Certification form, email graduation@sccollege.edu. The CSU and IGETC Certification forms are for unique situations, such as partial certification or "Passed Along" coursework.
- Awards will appear at the end of the transcript under the heading "Awards Conferred"
- View your unofficial transcripts online through Self-Service
- Graduation status is communicated via email on file in Self-Service
- Final evaluation of award is completed three times a year (March, August, and October)
- Diplomas and certificates are printed in-house
- The order is not placed until ALL awards have been evaluated
- Diplomas and certificates are printed three times a year (April, September, and November)
- ALL diplomas will be mailed to the mailing address on Self-Service
- Be sure to update your address if you have moved
- If you do not receive your award, it is your responsibility to reprint fees ($10) for a duplicate to be mailed
- Each copy is $10 and must be paid-in-full
- The Duplicate Diploma/Certificate form is available in the Admissions and Records Office (E-101) and online
- Requests take 1-2 weeks to process
- Students who have completed at least 30 applicable degree units and working towards completing their degree or certification should submit a petition to graduate.
- Even if you do not wish to participate in commencement, you must complete a petition to receive your degree or certification.
Submit Graduation Petitions to the Admissions & Records Office in the E-Building
(E-101) or email graduation@sccollege.edu.
- Submit a scanned PDF copy to graduation@sccollege.edu
- Images taken by using a cell phone camera do not always come out readable
- It is advised to use a PDF scanner such as CamScanner
- Graduation petitions will only be accepted from the email addresses we have on file in Self-Service
- All petitions MUST BE complete:
- All fields entered
- Signed and dated at the bottom
- Official transcripts from "Institutions Attended" must be in by the time of final evaluation
- Students will receive a confirmation email once the petition has been received
