Office of Student Development
Welcome to Santiago Canyon College! Our goal is to create a safe and healthy learning environment for all students.
Hello!
My name is Joseph Alonzo, and I am the Dean of Student Development here at Santiago
Canyon College (SCC).
In our office, we believe student development is about more than rules and regulations,
it is about creating a community where everyone can learn, grow, and feel supported.
That being said, we are committed to creating a campus environment where every student
feels safe, valued, supported, and empowered to succeed.
Our work extends beyond student conduct and includes Civil Rights compliance, Title
IX, the CARE Team, and the Behavioral Intervention Team (BIT). Through these efforts,
we seek to promote student well-being, address concerns with care and fairness, and
help cultivate a respectful and inclusive campus community.
We recognize that students may experience challenges that affect their academic and
personal lives. When concerns arise, our approach is grounded in support, accountability,
dignity, and access to resources. Whether connecting students with assistance, addressing
community concerns, or responding to reports of discrimination, harassment, or misconduct,
we strive to create pathways for learning, growth, and resolution.
Working in partnership with you and with others, we are here to support your well-being,
sense of belonging, and educational success every step of the way.
Please contact us at any time.
