SCC has gathered all available resources to develop a Laptop Loaner Program to support students that do not have access to technology at home. Loaner laptops will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis.
How To Get a Loaner Laptop:
- In order to collect and quaranteen loaned devices from Spring 2020 in preparation for Summer 2020, the next device pick-up day is not until June 10th, 2020.
- Loaned devices to students for the Spring 2020 Semster are due back to the college no later than Friday, June 12th.
Step 1: Submit a Laptop Loaner Program Participation Request
The first step in the process is to submit a Laptop Loaner Program participation request. If you are a current SCC student and have no access to a computer/laptop, please complete the request web form linked below.
College staff will review your submitted information and verify that you are an active SCC student.
Step 2: Schedule an Appointment
Upon completion of the participation request web form, you will recieve a form completion notification within your internet browser window that includes a link to SignUpGenius, our appointment scheduling website. Simply follow the link and reserve your pick-up time.
Appointments will only be scheduled for Mondays between 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM. You must have a confirmed pick-up appointment to be allowed on campus.
If you are not an active SCC student, your reservation will be canceled.

- Asset Tag Number (This is located on the white sticker on the exterior of the device)
Free Online Tools for SCC Students
Babbel is offering three months of free language learning to U.S. students through mid-June 2020 in any of its languages: Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Polish, Russian, Dutch, Turkish, Danish, Norwegian, Swedish, Indonesian, and English. https://welcome.babbel.com/en/student-discount/Collegebuys offers discounted software and hardware to students, faculty and staff. http://store.collegebuys.org/student/
If specific software is needed to support instruction that did not come preinstalled on your loaner device, you can submit a software request using the web form linked below.
If your software request is approved, SCC IT Services will load the software application as long as the software is compatible with the loaner device and a valid software license is available. This will require you to be on campus and connected to the college's network via ethernet.
You will receive an equipment return notice a week prior to the end of the semester with instructions for returning your loaner equipment.
All items you received with your loan should be returned, including the charger for the device.
Returning the Laptop
Laptops will be inspected upon return. Please plan on spending at least five minutes to complete the return. If there has been any damage beyond normal wear and tear during the loan period or if the laptop is lost or stolen, you will be liable for the cost to repair or replace it.
Stored Files on the Loaner Device
Upon return, all user files will be removed. Please make sure you save all important files to a portable storage device.
