ABOUT GSWS

Welcome to the Department of Gender, Sexuality, & Women's Studies (GSWS)! With roots in the social movements of the 1960s and 1970s, ours is a field of study that seeks both to understand and ameliorate systems of inequality and oppression. Offering interdisciplinary perspectives, our courses examine the intersections of gender with race, class, ethnicity, and sexual orientation. We invite you to enroll in one of our classes and explore, among other topics:

  • gender and the media
  • sexualities
  • women and the environment
  • women's health
  • women and crime
  • gendered violence
  • relationships and families
  • globalization
  • social change and YOUR role in creating it!
