TRiO Program Services
Our TRiO tutors provide personalized support to strengthen classroom learning and help TRiO scholars build strong study and time-management skills. We assist with a wide range of subjects, including Biology, Calculus, Chemistry, Computer Science, Economics, and Physics. By using TRiO’s tutoring services, scholars can develop the skills and confidence they need to excel at SCC and transition smoothly to a 4-year university.
Having access to the professors and class times you prefer gives you more control over your semester. As a TRiO scholar, you receive early registration access each semester. This advantage helps you stay on track with your planned schedule and ensures you meet your transfer requirements on time.
During your academic coaching sessions, you’ll have space to reflect on your academic progress and discuss important topics such as mental health, internships, research, tutoring, financial literacy workshops, and
more. These honest, practical conversations provide TRiO scholars with useful tools to succeed both in and out of the classroom.
Our counselors work one-on-one with TRiO scholars to help them understand their major requirements and succeed in a timely manner. TRiO counselors support scholars with transfer application questions and provide individualized assistance to complete their applications confidently and on schedule.
TRiO scholars have access to computers, school supplies, free printing, snacks, coffee, tea, and a microwave. Scholars are welcome to stop

Financial literacy is an essential skill that helps students plan for education, future goals, and major life
events. Led by financial professionals, these sessions teach students how to budget and track personal spending. We also host panels featuring first-generation professionals who share their college experiences and encourage
student success. Additionally, TRiO Scholars can access SCC Career
Development workshops to strengthen their resumes, build effective LinkedIn profiles, and develop other career-readiness skills.

TRiO provides students with the opportunity to visit CSU, UC, and private college campuses across California. These visits allow TRiO scholars to explore campuses, connect with current students, learn about academic programs, and envision themselves in that environment before applying to transfer.
High school students seeking a smooth transition to college can apply to the TRiO Summer Bridge Program. During the summer before your first semester, you’ll be introduced to college life through workshops,
lectures, group activities, and team-building experiences. This program helps you
start your freshman year with confidence and preparedness.
