CNA Acute Care

Nurse Assistant Acute Care

The Nurse Assistant Acute Care program is designed to train nurse assistants for employment in the acute care facility. Integrated throughout the program are essential employability skills for the healthcare industry. Content area skills focus on direct patient care of the chronically ill patient. Safety practices in the acute care setting will be emphasized. Students will learn skills associated with neonatal and postpartum care, elimination, and surgery, as well as patient admissions, transfers, and discharges. Students may complete the first course, VMED 070, prior to becoming nurse assistants.

Course Requirements

VMED 070 - Acute Care Theory for Nurse Assistants (90 Hrs)
VMED 071 - Acute Care Practice for Nurse Assistants (132 Hrs)

Students who successfully complete VMED-070 Acute Care Theory and have submitted all clinical documentation will be eligible to transition to the hands-on portion of the program, VMED-071 Acute Care Practice for Nurse Assistants. Spaces are limited to 15 students per instructor.

    Location: College and Workforce Preparation Center, 1572 N. Main St., Orange

 

Required documents to enroll:

  • Active C.N.A. License – Students are required to have an active C.N.A. license prior to transitioning to the hands-on training portion of the program.

  • Current Resume

  • Active BLS/CPR Card – The card must remain valid for the entire duration of the program.

  • Social Security Number or ITIN#

  • Government-Issued ID

  • Immunization Records: Hepatitis B (Hep B), Tetanus, Diphtheria & Pertussis (Tdap), Tuberculosis (TB) Testing, Measles, Mumps, Rubella (Measles, Rubella, German Measles), (MMR), Varicella (Chickenpox – CP), Influenza Vaccination Annual Requirement: Influenza vaccination is required annually between October 1st and March 31st, or as required by the facility, and COVID-19 Vaccination.

  • Background Clearance – Students must pass a background check. For the C.N.A. license, only DOJ clearance is required. To train at the hospital, students must obtain both DOJ and FBI clearance.

    We will provide the necessary documents and instructions when students drop off their paperwork.
