This course is perfect for those who want to learn more about the stock, bond, and ETF markets and how they work. Topics covered will include how to read the financial section of the newspaper, what influences the price of stocks, bonds, and mutual funds; load or no-load mutual funds; how interest rates can affect your financial well-being; and how to manage investment risk. We will also discuss how ETFs or alternative investments can increase your yield and reduce your volatility and investment risk. The course will highlight issues such as stock and index options, domestic and global stock markets, new and "hot" issues, selling short, tax-free bonds, buying stock on margin, how the stock exchanges work, dollar cost averaging, how to read a typical account statement, retirement plans (IRA's, SEP-IRA's, Roth IRA's, 403B's, 401K's, Annuities) and how market prices respond to news.
