This year Santiago Canyon College celebrates its 20th anniversary as a fully accredited community college in the City of Orange. The college has come a long way in 20 years. Since 2000, almost 92,000 students have taken at least one class at SCC; we have conferred over 34,000 degrees and certificates to students. We have dramatically expanded academic, technical and trades program offerings, which now include top notch STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) programs and access to the largest trade apprenticeship program in the US. We've been named the 3rd best college in California by bestcolleges.com, the 13th best college in the United States by College Choice, and gained the coveted “Military Friendly School" designation from miliaryfriendly.com. We really do change students' lives for the better. We also provide real value to our community. A recently commissioned economic impact study suggested that for every state and local tax dollar spent at the College, state residents realize $3.20 in economic return on investment.
As we look to our next 20 years, we do so determined to see Santiago Canyon College become the best of the best among community colleges. We want to provide students with the highest quality training, enrichment and counseling support that will reveal their potential and lead them to personal and professional success. We want to ensure that we are serving the workforce demands of regional employers. We also want to be a vibrant cultural and educational hub for the surrounding communities we serve. These are big goals, but we are already well along the path to success. What Happens Here Matters…and we hope you – our SCC's alumni and friends – will become willing ambassadors on SCC's behalf, helping us spread the word about our college's value to the community. I invite you to start by exploring our Fall 2019 SCConnections to learn more about some recent accomplishments.
