Michelle LaVaughn Robinson Obama (born January 17, 1964) in Chicago, Illinois, is an American attorney and author who served as the first lady of the United States from 2009 to 2017. She was the first African-American woman to serve in this position. She is the wife of former U.S. President Barack Obama.
For three straight years – 2018, 2019, and 2020 – Obama topped the Gallup poll asking who is the "most admired woman" in the U.S. Time magazine features an annual "Person of the Year"and, Michelle Obama was named the Woman of the Year for 2008. Obama's memoir, Becoming, was released in November 2018 and sold 11.5 million copies.
