Santiago Canyon College Celebrates Earth Day April 18


(Orange, CA) - Santiago Canyon College (SCC) will celebrate Earth Day on campus Thursday, April 18.

The free event, open to both students and the SCC community, features a food court, Tesla ​display, small famer’s market, succulent sales, STEM science displays and demonstrations, and community vendors, along with a host of SCC clubs and campus departments.

“Earth Day is an event hosted by SCC’s Associated Student Government (ASG) and the purpose is to highlight SCC efforts to be greener and more eco-friendly,” stated Arleen Satele, VP of Administrative Services. “We’ve also partnered with our eco-partners to demonstrate the efforts, sciences and advances being made in environmentally conscious commerce.”

Various SCC departments and clubs will be participating in the event, as well as an extensive list of community partners, including Orange Police Department, Climatec, OC Parks, Coast Keepers Garden, OCTA, Irvine Ranch Water District, Orange County Public Works, OC Tesla Club, Orange County Farm Supply and Wolff Horticulture.

SCC’s Earth Day celebration, held from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Strenger Plaza, 8045 E. Chapman Ave. in Orange, includes free snacks, smoothies and opportunity drawings. Contact (714) 628-4719 for additional information.
