New Student Orientation

At Santiago Canyon College - Division of Continuing Education we provide orientations for our new students in select programs.

Students will need to take an assessment test or a reading proficiency if they enroll in the following programs:

English as a Second Language (ESL) Enrollment Procedures:

The department recommends taking the ESL Placement assessment to help determine which class level would be best for the learner. The assessment takes approximately two hours. Appointments are available mornings, evenings, Fridays and Saturdays. Students will also complete an orientation and education plan. A detailed placement assessment schedule may be obtained by calling 714-628-5900.

***There are no children permitted in the testing room or left unattended within the school grounds.

High School Program Enrollment Procedures:

Students must take a reading proficiency to enter the Adult High School, GED and HiSET, Academic Skills, and Reading classes. Students are also required to complete an orientation and educational plan the day of the proficiency. This process takes approximately 2½ hours. Once a student has taken the proficiency, he or she will schedule an appointment with a counselor to review assessment results and enroll in classes

**Please note; there are no children permitted in the testing room or left unattended within the school grounds.
