English as a Second Language Assessment Procedures

Individuals interested in taking classes in the ESL program must first take a placement assessment before enrolling into a class. The assessment is given to help determine which class level would be best for the learner. The assessment takes approximately two hours.

Assessment days for the Spring 2019 semester  

  • Monday and Wednesday 5:30 pm (Please arrive by 5:15 pm) at CHAP ​
  • Tuesday and Thursday 12:00 pm (Please arrive by 11:45 am) at CHAP
  • Friday and Saturday at 9:00 am (Please arrive by 8:45 am) at CHAP

or for more information call (714) 628-5900. Individuals do not need to bring anything with them to the assessment.

High School Program Assessment Procedures
Students must first take a placement assessment to register for High School, Adult Basic Education and Reading classes.         
The test takes approximately three hours.
 
Assessment days for the Spring 2019 semester
  • Tuesday at 9:00 am or  5:30 pm, SCC U-80
  • Wednesday at 9:00 am or  5:30 pm, CWPC

Individuals should bring unofficial school transcripts on the assessment date, if available. Once a student has taken the assessment, he or she will be asked to schedule an appointment with a counselor to review the assessment results and enroll in classes.
