The first Project Rise student to transfer to Cal-State Fullerton!
As a Project RISE student, Raymond completed transfer requirements here at SCC and will join the Project Rebound program at Cal-State Fullerton. He is majoring in Human Services with a Mental Health concentration. Raymond also works with systems impacted individuals at Project Kinship based in Santa Ana. We hope to continue to work with Raymond as he continues his educational journey. Congratulations Raymond!

Marcus served 27.5 years in prison beginning at the age of 16. During a presentation from our Project RISE team, he heard about our Adult High School diploma program and decided to enroll. Marcus completed his high school diploma and plans to pursue a career as a Substance Abuse Counselor. We are very proud of Marcus!
As a young adult, Leann struggled with substance use and mental health challenges. She eventually graduated from San Francisco State University where she obtained a degree in Child and Adolescent Development with a concentration in Youth and Family Services. Despite the success in her professional life, Leann faced other difficulties leading her to become homeless and eventually incarcerated.
During her incarceration, Leann enrolled in continuing education courses offered at the Central Women’s Jail. Post release, she was connected with the Project RISE team and they provided support in helping her to reach her academic and career goals. Leann has been accepted to Columbia University’s program in Leadership and Entrepreneurship through their Center for Justice. In April of 2021, Leann was awarded a Certificate of Recognition by Rancho Santiago Community College District Board of Trustees for her persistence, resiliency and commitment to her education.
