How do I sign up?
LiveSafe is a free mobile safety app made available by Santiago Canyon College campus safety and is easy and quick to use! Download the LiveSafe mobile app from the iTunes or
Google Play store. Select "Santiago Canyon College" as the school / agency and fill out your user profile.
Who may use the LiveSafe app?
Anyone interested in receiving timely alerts and notifications from Santiago Canyon College. The app is free and available for download for all Santiago Canyon College students, faculty and staff to use. In addition, Santa Ana College parents may download LiveSafe to receive the alerts and notifications as well.
What kind of information should I report?
Santiago Canyon College students, faculty and staff are encouraged to use the LiveSafe app to communicate with Santiago Canyon College Campus Safety about any issues, concerns or questions related to campus safety and security. The app may be used to inquire about policies and best practices for getting help for a friend, reporting vandalism, suspicious activity or any other issue related to conduct and well-being.
Do I need to provide picture, video or audio evidence?
No. You are encouraged to provide picture, audio and/or video evidence when submitting a report but only when it's safe to do so.
Who receives my report and information?
Information submitted is monitored 24/7 by Santiago Canyon College Campus Safety. In case campus safety requires further information on any report, the City of Santa Ana Police will follow-up and live chat with you.
What happens if I send a report in the wrong category?
Santiago Canyon College Campus Safety can easily re-categorize reports, so you don't need to worry if you mistakenly select the wrong category. If you are unsure which category the report falls into, select "Other."
What if a report I send turns out to be a mistake?
You will not be penalized for making claims that turn out to be untrue. So long as reports aren't purposefully and falsely claimed, we encouraged you to share information with Campus Safety.
How does the anonymous feature work?
You can send in tip reports using the anonymous feature if you are no comfortable with disclosing your identity. Santiago Canyon College Campus Safety will not be able to see who the report is coming from if the anonymous feature is activated.
Does LifeSafe replace 911?
No. When faced with an emergency situation, LiveSafe recommends dialing 911. The aim of the LiveSafe app is to provide a new channel to report non-emergency information and crimes to Santiago Canyon College Campus Safety.
If in an emergency situation (on- or off-campus), LiveSafe has a 911 distress button. When calling 911 using LiveSafe, Santiago Canyon College Campus Safety will receive better information and intelligence in order to provide assistance faster. Santiago Canyon College Campus Safety will receive your GPS coordinates and emergency contact information allowing dispatchers to respond in a more timely and efficient manner.
When should I call Campus Safety rather than 911?
For any emergency that is time-sensitive and poses risk to life and health, 911 should always be called. In non-emergency situations please call Santiago Canyon College Campus Safety and one of our staff members will be to assist you.
How could I use LiveSafe in an emergency?
If you are in an emergency situation and can make a voice call without drawing attention to yourself call 911. If you are unable to make a voice call because of situational or technical issues, or if you need to be discrete, you may "Message Campus Safety" and start a live two-way chat with Santiago Canyon College Campus Safety.
What will Campus Safety do with my data?
LiveSafe respects the privacy of individuals and law enforcement agencies. Your data will only be analyzed in aggregate form once your information is scrubbed and anonymized. Evidence information belongs solely to the law enforcement agency for which it was designated.
