Santiago Canyon College Hosts Water Workers

Orange—Santiago Canyon College hosted more than 600 water industry employees and exhibitors from across Southern California for professional development and advanced training Wednesday, Aug. 19.

This is the seventh year the American Water Works Association held the Water Industry Education Day event at Santiago Canyon College. The program included 84 sessions to help the water workers meet their professional development required license contact hours.

“We had five SCC instructors presenting sessions,” said Tricia Evans, dean of Career and Technical Education.

The SCC Water Utility Science program is the largest and most comprehensive of its kind at any community college in California.

Evans said planning has begun already for the 2010 event.

Santiago Canyon College is a public community college of Rancho Santiago Community College District, serving the residents of Anaheim Hills, Orange, Tustin and Villa Park. The college provides education for academic transfer and careers, courses for personal and professional development, and customized training for business and industry.
