An Instructional Design Center is a faculty and staff focused work area designed to support life-long learning and promote effective implementations of instructional technology, instructional design, and collaboration with colleagues in an open discussion about effective teaching practices. The center is being designed to be warm, welcoming, well-equipped with technology tools and support staff, and a place for comfortable collaboration.
An IDC can be the incubation area for implementations such as Open Education Resources, a Flipped Classroom Model, effective online learning design and practices, Active Learning, Distributed Learning, innovative teaching and learning strategies, addressing equity gaps, or targeted-topic get-togethers in an unassuming environment. With a focus on promoting equity, thinking critically, increasing access, improving instruction, open mindedness, and, ultimately, bettering student success, an IDC is central to supporting our mission.
Our Instructional Design Center, located in the library building, is really starting to come together. Please drop by and see what we have done so far.
We have an area where you can work and collaborate on a high table with equipment that includes a large screen for screen sharing or presentations.

We have lower comfortable seating.

You can check out notebook computers or iPads for IDC use or use our desktop computers and software. Also take a look at our workshop room that has mobile computers, desks and chairs. This room can conform to any need.

And we are cleaning up a room that will be our recording studio. We have an HD video camera you can use, a front facing camera with QuickTime built into a Mac with video editing software, such as iMovie, Final Cut Pro, Camtasia Relay Pro, and even a drawing/writing tablet for screen capture videos with live annotation.
We think you will really love the new space and we want you to make this center your home for collaboration, innovation, experimentation, and learning. We are still working on completing the center, which will have beautiful student art and freshly patched and painted walls. But please stop by during our open hours to see what we have done so far. We are open Monday through Thursday, 8AM- 12PM and 1PM - 6PM.
