Visualizing Success: Graphic Design @ SCC

Graphic designers don't just compose and alter images… they tell stories.

With so many messages cluttering traditional and digital platforms, the power of visual storytelling is the power to stand out from the crowd. From advertising and marketing, to product design, packaging and beyond, talented graphic designers are finding themselves in increased demand.

Santiago Canyon's Graphic Design program combines creative inspiration with technical know-how to create a well-rounded basis for employment in an industrial art career. Beginning with an introduction to art concepts, SCC's degree and certificate tracks explore the aesthetic and practical aspects of graphic design, including digital photography, 2-D and 3-D design, multimedia applications, and programming. Students also gain exposure to the business side of the industry, with coursework also covering key principles of advertising.

SCC's proximity to California's busy media and commerce capitals makes the program a consistent pipeline to employment opportunities in private industry. Graduates launch confident careers in traditional and digital media, art, web design, advertising, and even architectural design. The Associate of Science in Graphic Design degree also provides a basis for hassle-free transfer to a bachelor's degree program within the UC or CSU system.

Graphic design students also have access to unique opportunities to expose their work through shows at the SCC Art Gallery, located on campus. Student shows run throughout the Spring and Fall semesters, closing for the Summer term.

SCC students are bringing their visions to reality through their Future BUILT career education. Are you ready to turn your creativity into a calling?
