Donating to Scholarships

Working while attending college is a time-honored tradition that builds character and reinforces learning; a large percentage of SCC students do in fact work to support their educational goals. However, studies show that students who have to work more than 15 or 20 hours per week while attending college often have greater challenges staying on track or keeping up their grades. This in turn increases the chances that they will eventually drop out.

You can help insure that more of our students succeed in realizing their academic goals, regardless of their economic circumstances, by giving to scholarships at SCC. There are many ways you can do this:
  • Contribute Any Amount to an Existing Scholarship Fund.  There are many scholarship funds at SCC to which you can contribute, including scholarships for STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) majors, veterans, Guardian Scholars (emancipated foster youth), books, athletics, art majors and continuing education. There are many other scholarship funds or you can donate to our general scholarship fund.  To make a donation, click here.  Not sure where to donate? Email foundation@sccollege.edu with your preferences and we’ll happily guide you through the process.
  • Set Up a Named Scholarship. With a gift of $500 or more, you can name a scholarship in memory of a loved one or to recognize your company’s donation.  You can renew the gift annually for as long as you like.  As a named scholarship donor, you will be honored every year at our annual Scholarship Donor Reception in May, where you can meet the recipient/s and award them their scholarship/s. Please click here to access the form to establish a scholarship. If you prefer, you can email foundation@sccollege.edu and we’ll contact you with more information.
  • Set Up an Endowed Scholarship.  With a gift of $25,000 or more, you can fund an endowment that will provide scholarships to SCC students in perpetuity. The funds you donate are invested responsibly and, based on an established formula, a percentage of the principal is withdrawn annually to provide a scholarship to a student or students. You can decide the name and criteria for the scholarship. You will also be our honored guest at the annual Scholarship Donor Reception in May, where you can meet the recipient/s and award them their scholarship/s.  For more information on setting up an endowed scholarship, please call 714-628-4888 or email foundation@sccollege.edu.
