Faculty Award Recipient to Discuss Ways Economists Think
Orange—How economists think and what they think about will be discussed by Alex Taber, professor of economics and the 2011 Santiago Canyon College Faculty Excellence recipient, November 17.
The presentation is at 1 p.m., Thursday, November 17, in the Santiago Canyon College Science Center, room 105. The presentation is free, but seating is limited.
The Faculty Excellence Award is the highest honor bestowed by colleagues upon a faculty member of Santiago Canyon College. Nomination criteria include service to the college, commitment to student success, curriculum development, and academic leadership. Students and faculty nominate candidates, and final selection is determined by faculty vote.
Taber has taught at the University of Chicago, the University of Miami, and Caltech. He has been a member of the SCC faculty since 1999. He has spoken at conferences sponsored by the Federal Reserve Banks of Philadelphia and Atlanta and has been published in the International Economic Review.
Taber received his doctorate and master’s degrees in economics from the University of Chicago.
At SCC, Taber has been involved in institutional planning, assessment, and accreditation. He also served as the Social Sciences department chair from 2005-2008.
Santiago Canyon College is a public community college of Rancho Santiago Community College District, serving the residents of Anaheim Hills, Orange, Tustin and Villa Park.
