Student Art Show Coming to Santiago Canyon College
Orange—Santiago Canyon College art students will show their best work in the college’s third annual student art show, May 5-18.
The juried show will begin with a reception and awards ceremony from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, May 5, in the college library. Art will be on display in the library and in the D-building.
The reception is free and follows the annual SCC Scholarship Ceremony, which will take place on Strenger Plaza outside the library.
The art works were selected by SCC faculty. “The pieces selected represent the best art produced in our classes,” said John Weispfenning, dean of the Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences Division. “The annual show is a great opportunity for the public to see what our students have created.”
Works created by students during the current academic year will be featured, including drawings, life drawings, traditional and experimental paintings, stained glass, fused glass, slumped glass, two-dimensional designs, three-dimensional designs, and digital art works.
Many of the pieces will be available for purchase. The show is supported by donations from Art Supply Warehouse and Art Angles.
The show will continue from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Thursday until May 18.
