Graphic Artist to Speak December 1

Orange—Orange native Alex Zemke will discuss his career as an animator with students at Santiago Canyon College on Tuesday, December 1.

A graduate of El Modena High School, Zemke’s interest in animation began in childhood, eventually finding an outlet in a comic strip he drew for his college paper.  After a stint as a radio broadcaster, Zemke began his career in animation.

Zemke has worked at studios of all sizes, making television ads for Barbie, cinematics for videogames such as Uncharted 2, and feature film work for Disney’s G-Force.

Zemke said he enjoys “encouraging future artists to pursue their craft in the way I wish I had been encouraged as a boy.”

The presentation will take place at 1 p.m. in room D-101.  The event is open to the public, but seating is limited.  Zemke’s appearance is sponsored by the Speaker’s Symposium with support from the Santiago Canyon College Foundation.

Santiago Canyon College is a public community college of Rancho Santiago Community College District, serving the residents of Anaheim Hills, Orange, Tustin and Villa Park.  The college provides education for academic transfer and careers, courses for personal and professional development, and customized training for business and industry.
