SCC Women’s Soccer Team Hosts Community Events
Orange— The Santiago Canyon College women’s soccer team is holding its Annual Community Soccer Evening, Saturday, Sept. 5.
Local youth players are invited to attend in their uniforms.
“The young players will have the opportunity to watch us play San Bernardino Valley College, and warm down with the teams afterwards,” said SCC head coach Ian Woodhead.
Starting time will be 6:30 p.m. at the Santiago Canyon College soccer field.
On Aug. 14, the SCC women joined 15 young athletes with disabilities for an evening of soccer activities in Yorba Linda.
The Yorba Linda event was the third annual clinic the SCC women had held with the youth, who are players from the Junior United Soccer Association TOPSoccer program. TOPSoccer stands for “The Outreach Program for Soccer,” and is a community-based soccer program for young athletes facing physical and mental challenges.
According to Woodhead, TOPSoccer provides a safe and fun environment for children to participate in organized sports.
“It was a fulfilling evening for everyone involved,” Woodhead said.
Santiago Canyon College is a public community college of Rancho Santiago Community College District, serving the residents of Anaheim Hills, Orange, Tustin and Villa Park. The college provides education for academic transfer and careers, courses for personal and professional development, and customized training for business and industry.
