Kelsey Bains joined the Santiago Canyon College Athletics staff in August of 2006 and became SCC’s first full-time Athletic Trainer in the spring of 2007. In her 8 years of dedicated service to the Hawks family she has been responsible for overseeing of 8 intercollegiate sports teams, seeing numerous All-Americans pass through her Athletic Training Room, multiple teams achieve playoff berths and also seen her Women’s Soccer achieve 2 State titles in 2006 and 2009.
Prior to joining the SCC staff, Kelsey attended Chapman University located just 5 miles from SCC. At Chapman she held multiple rolls as Lead RA, cabinet member of Associated Students, member of CARES, member of Gamma Phi Beta and President of the Athletic Training Student Society. Her undergraduate degree in Athletic Training was the culmination of 4 years of studying at a nationally accredited university program. One of the strengths of the Athletic Training Program is their clinical rotations and Kelsey’s experience exemplified this. Her clinical rotations included Chapman University Football, Chapman University Men’s Soccer, Chapman University Basketball, SCAR Physical Therapy, Cypress College Softball, El Modena High School Football and Santa Ana College Football. Although she’s been a Hawk since 2006, if you ask Kelsey she is proud to call Chapman University her Alma Mater.
In addition to her service at Santiago Canyon College, Kelsey has had the opportunity to work internationally in Athletic Training. She volunteered with People to People in 2008 and 2009 traveling to Holland and Vienna for an international tournament. Also, Kelsey has worked with the Region IV Olympic Development program as an Athletic Trainer.
On a personal note, in her personal time Kelsey’s hobbies include cooking, baking, photography, and paddling. She resides in Orange, CA with her amazing and beloved boxer/pitbull mix, Nala.
